Frequently Asked Questions
1.
When participating in a group class will I be expected to sing solo?
Only if you want to. Group classes are largely about just that, singing
together and learning from and supporting each other. There is the opportunity
for participants to try out material on their own if they wish to, but
it is most certainly not an obligation.
2.
Can I try a session out before committing to lessons?
By all means but please note that Viva Voce does not offer free trials.
One-off lessons will be charged at the usual rate (see #4).
3. How is payment made?
Payment is currently in cash or cheque made out to Viva Voce. For group
courses payment is in advance for the full duration of the course. If
you can't make all the sessions that is unfortunate but for practical
reasons we do not run pay-as-you-go classes. For individual lessons
payment is 4 weeks in advance.
4. What are the fees?
2010 Fees for group classes are 150 Euros for 12 weeks.
2010 Fees for 1 hour individual sessions are 100 Euros per 4 weeks.
2010 Fees for 1/2 hour individual sessions are 55 Euros per 4 weeks.
5.
Where are you?
Paphos and Limassol
venues.
6.
Do you offer on-line teaching?
Online and distance voice coaching is offered at our sister site 'Sing Shop'.
.7.
Will you tell me honestly if I can or can't sing?
You will get a thorough and professional assessment from me in the first
lesson. I have yet to encounter a student who cannot sing.
8.
Do you offer support for professional singers?
Yes. Just get in touch and let me know your requirements.
9.
What ages do you teach?
I teach from the age of 8+. Beginners of any age are welcome. It is
never too late to start learning.
10. Does
Viva Voce offer singing exams?
I can prepare students for exams with the varied international bodies
(ABRSM, LCM, Trintiy, Rock School) and put them forward for exams at
the appropriate time. Please note that exam and accompanist costs are
the responsibility of participating students. I can advise on these
costs or you can get them directly from the websites of the above examining
bodies.
11. Does
Viva Voce offer students the opportunity for live performances?
Yes. Students are regularly invited to perform with a professional
accompanist at the Viva Voce 'Free and Easy' sessions for other students,
friends and family.
12. Can I share a singing lesson with a friend?
Yes, singing lessons that are one hour can be shared between two people.
Please note that two is the maximum I teach in an individual lesson.
If several people are interested in lessons then a group class will be more suitable.
